Nihari is a popular beef stew that originated in the Indian subcontinent and is now enjoyed in many parts of the world. It is typically slow-cooked with a blend of spices and served with garnish items. Here is a recipe for nihari beef:

Ingredients:

1.

1 kg beef shank, cut into pieces

2.     1/2 cup oil

3.     2 large onions, sliced

4.     1 tbsp ginger paste

5.     1 tbsp garlic paste

6.     1 tbsp red chili powder

7.     1 tbsp coriander powder

8.     1 tsp cumin powder

9.     1 tsp turmeric powder

10.  1 tsp garam masala

11.  1/2 tsp black pepper powder

12.  Salt to taste

13.  8-10 cups water

14.  2 tbsp wheat flour

15.  2 tbsp corn flour

16.  2 tbsp ghee

17.  2 tbsp ginger, julienned

18.  2 tbsp green chili, chopped

19.  1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped

20.  1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped

21.  1 lemon, cut into wedges

Instructions:

Heat oil in a large pot and add sliced onions. Fry until golden brown.

Add ginger paste and garlic paste and fry for a minute.

Add beef shank pieces and cook on high heat for 5-7 minutes or until browned.

Add red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, black pepper powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add water and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer for 4-6 hours or until the beef is tender.

In a small bowl, mix wheat flour and corn flour with 1 cup of water to make a smooth paste. Add this to the pot and stir well. Cook for 30-40 minutes or until the gravy thickens.

Heat ghee in a small pan and add ginger and green chili. Fry for a minute and add to the pot. Mix well.

Garnish with fresh coriander, fresh mint, and lemon wedges. Serve hot with naan or rice.
