Kari variety of meats and vegetables
Kari is a type of curry dish that can be made with a variety of meats and vegetables. The main ingredients in a kari recipe typically include a type of protein (such as chicken, beef, or tofu), a variety of spices, and a liquid (such as coconut milk or broth) to create a sauce.
Here is a simple recipe for chicken kari:
Ingredients:
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into
bite-size pieces
1 onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper (optional)
1 can of coconut milk
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat
and add a bit of oil.
Add the chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7
minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add a bit more oil and sauté
the onion, garlic, and ginger until softened, about 3-5 minutes.
Add the spices and stir for about a minute until
fragrant.
Add the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
Add the chicken back into the skillet, reduce the
heat to low and let simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over rice or with naan bread and garnish with
fresh cilantro.
Note: You can also add vegetables such as bell
peppers, carrots, or potatoes to the recipe.
